Meet Kimberley

Kimberley's journey began while studying zoology and conservation biology for her undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University. By the time she received her degree in 2005, Kimberley had become fascinated with the connections between the health of the natural world and the health of humans. She continued her journey by studying health-supportive culinary arts at New York’s renowned Natural Gourmet Institute. While a student of NGI's professional chef training program, she learned essential cooking techniques, methods for sourcing ingredients, culinary business principles, and the art of healthful cooking, and in 2007 she earned her culinary degree.

Since then, Kimberley has worn many hats in the name of good food: personal chef, garden/nutrition educator, culinary/nutrition consultant, sustainable seafood specialist, cookbook editor, food writer.

Food writer, editor, recipe developer

As a trained chef with a love of the written word, Kimberley has contributed pieces on cooking, wellness, dining/lifestyle trends, and culinary miscellanea to publications like Organic Authority, Edible Communities, and Los Angeles magazine, and along the way she’s edited the recipes and manuscripts of several cookbooks.

In addition to her work as a food writer and editor, Kimberley has cooked for celebrities, developed recipes for cookbooks, blogs, and businesses, consulted with schools on healthy cooking and menu development, and taught garden and nutrition curriculum in schools.

TV/Video production

Kimberley has worked behind the scenes and on the set for a number of TV/video projects. She’s scripted and starred in videos about food and cooking, done live cooking demonstrations on TV, and worked stints in food styling and production assisting.

Working with words

While her writing specialization falls upon cooking, natural living and recipes, Kimberley is just as at home editing and proofing words of any persuasion. She's copy edited numerous cookbooks and has worked as a writer and editor for editorial and business outlets. She's proficient in AP style, content management systems, email marketing, social media, and Microsoft Word (Track Changes and other proofing tools), plus some basic but very practical skills in the Adobe Creative Suite for photo and document editing.

At home

Kimberley spends her free time tinkering on the piano, exploring the magnificent outdoors (most likely on her bike or driving across the states to camp in beautiful places along the way), relaxing with family and friends, and daydreaming about what kind of scones to bake up next.
